(20 Feb 2017) Ukrainian nationalists, protesting against government trade with territories held by pro-Russia separatists in eastern Ukraine, are continuing to block a railway line in the country's Donetsk region.
The move aims to prevent the flow of coal and other raw products between government-controlled territory and an area in eastern Ukraine controlled by pro-Russia separatists.
Activists have been present at the railway line since January, setting up tents at crossings to further enforce the blockade.
One activist said on Sunday they also aimed to draw attention to Ukrainian soldiers they say are still being held by pro-Russia separatists.
The government has criticised the blockade, saying it hurts ordinary Ukrainians in the rest of the country by cutting off coal shipments from separatist regions.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko warned the blockade could bring the nation's metals industries to a halt, leaving 300,000 people without jobs and denying the cash-strapped government two (b) billion US dollars in export earnings.
